A helper for planning and studying
A model gives a good draft of weekly plans, study schedules and flashcards. To make a plan realistic, write down your free time and your constraints.
The Socratic method is useful for learning: ask the model to put questions to you instead of giving answers. Actively trying to answer yourself is remembered better than passive reading.
On little-studied topics a model may be wrong: compare with a core textbook or a teacher.
Remember
- Put real constraints into the plan.
- Learn by being asked questions.
- Compare with a core source.
Exercise
What is the most useful way to use a model when learning a new topic?
Answer and explanation
- Memorize its answer.Memorizing does not guarantee understanding.
- Expect the model to write all your notes.Passive reading brings little benefit.
- Ask it to put questions to you and answer them yourself. (correct answer)Testing yourself strengthens memory.
Practical task
Ask a model for 5 questions on one topic and answer them yourself.
- I got 5 questions
- I answered all of them myself
- I compared my answers with a textbook
